HER is a program designed for girls to promote self esteem

HER is a program designed for girls to promote self esteem, confidence and positive social engagement. Each group is comprised of 8-12 girls and each session lasts for 8 weeks. At this time, we are running groups for girls in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grades. Each group has all girls from the same grade. There are 2 ways to have your daughter join a HER Group. One, you can contact us and let us know that you are interested in setting up a group in your area or with girls from your child's school and we will assist. We are able to run groups in private yards, at parks or community centers and at schools. This helps us to bring the program to your area. Two, you can sign your daughter up for a group that we have listed on this site. We have found that it works well to have a group of girls who all attend the same school.

Each meeting is one hour, and we use games, role plays, writing and art to explore topics important to positive social development for girls of a specific age. Some of these topics include Feeling Good about Yourself, Making Safe Choices, How to Say No, Dealing with Bullies, Being a Good Friend, Hygiene and Health Habits and Making Your Mark on the World. With the older girls, we do talk about some of the physical/emotional changes the girls may be experiencing now. We leave the floor open to questions from the girls and we respond in a mostly clinical, educational manner. Throughout some of the sessions, there will be a thread of choosing a cause as a group and doing some sort of fundraiser to support that cause. Locations to be announced closer to start dates, but we will work with you to find a location that works for your family. Cost for a session is $320.
